Most Maison Jean-Vier products are treated to make the fabric as stable as possible, but around 5% shrinkage may occur during the first wash.
Washing cotton or cotton-linen mix textiles with water repellent treatment (easy-care fabric):
- No prewash.
- If a spillage occurs, try to absorb any liquid carefully and dab with a wet sponge, after removing any solid pieces.
- Machine wash at 40°C with little detergent.
- Do not fill the machine and select a delicate drying programme.
- This will make it easier to iron the reverse of the fabric and will regenerate the water repellent treatment, which is non-permanent.
- Do not tumble dry
- Linen: natural off-white linen gets lighter with every wash.
- Make sure you wash all your towels at the same time to ensure a uniform colour.
Cleaning 100% cotton textiles
We advise you to prewash your table linen cold or at a low temperature. This removes residues from the surface and prevents stains from embedding in the fibres.
- Remember: stains penetrate non-prewashed fabrics more easily.
- Then, depending on how dirty the fabric is, you can machine-wash it at 40 or 60°C max. with a detergent for colours. Try not to mix synthetic-fibre fabrics with cotton fabrics (risk of pilling).
- Dry at a moderate temperature.
- Remember: it can be tumble dried. Choose a delicate programme and only fill up two thirds of the machine. Avoid mixing fibres of different materials as the drying time is different for each of them.
- Iron on a very high heat.
